  1. Soft Gel Paste Colour Kit
  2. Round icing top
  3. Disposable piping bags
  4. heart-shaped cookie cutters

Silicone baking mats, a rolling pin, and a heart-shaped cookie cutter are also required.

As a starting point, we'll use tried-and-true sugar cookies. Soft and buttery with crisp edges, the cookies are delicious. In the oven, the dough keeps its shape well. There will be no deformed hearts!

The most crucial step is to chill the cookie dough, as is customary. This keeps the cookies from crumbling. This sugar cookie recipe is unique in that the cookie dough is chilled after it is rolled out. Divide the cookie dough in half and roll out each half separately. Roll out the sugar cookie dough onto silicone baking mats that have been lightly floured. The mats aren't going to slide around. The mats can then be used to bake the cookies.

    • Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing basin until light and creamy. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
    • Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda; stir well into the creamed mixture. Cover and chill for 1 hour, or until cool enough to handle.
    • Roll out half of the dough to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
    • Using a floured 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the shapes. Place 1 inch apart on baking pans that haven't been greased.
    • Using skewers, place one end of each skewer about 1 inch from the top of each heart on top of each cookie.
    • Press gently into the dough. Place a small amount of additional dough on top of each skewer and press it into the biscuit to secure it.
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until firm. Allow cooling for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
    • On a lightly floured board, roll out the remaining dough. Using a floured 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the shapes. Using a 1-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the centres.
